
How are you feeling today on this shiny new first day of a brand new year? Excited, not sure yet, or a little intimidated?
I woke up this morning and felt a lovely sense of calm - I couldn't hear any cars, a little snow was falling, I had nowhere to go and life feels pretty exciting!
Now, I'm not saying all of this because I think everyone should feel as happy as I do when you wake up on a New Year's day, or on any day for that matter, I'm not trying to make you feel guilty that you're just not feeling great, I know how hard life can feel, I know, because I've been there! I feel your pain, I feel your heavy heart, I feel your overwhelm.
A new year can feel quite daunting can't it, especially when it follows such an historic whirlwind of a year in 2020, actually pretty exhausting isn't it?
When I look back at where I was, just holding my life together, everyday felt like wading through wet sand, and I certainly didn't like myself, or the way I had handled my life so far. It wouldn't have mattered how much physical or emotional pain I was in, how exhausted I was, how many doctors I saw. The one thing that came to me one cold wet morning, when I just wanted the world to swallow me up, I'd had enough of struggling and feeling totally overwhelmed everyday, and I suddenly knew that no one, absolutely no one could help me. Friends, family, partner, this was my huge, slap in the face, wake up call! The only one who could save Me, was Me!! Yes, really, that is the 'simple' shift to move yourself from unhappiness to happiness in every moment of everyday.
It takes just one decision to not want to feel like this anymore, and it takes one single step in the right direction of your physical and/or emotional healing journey to open the door of change and watch your 'Happy' find you. Now I'm not saying it's easy, but your first decision and your first step has already been taken just by reading this blog! How exciting is that?
It's time to take the next step.....
