Detox Your Life

It's time to feel more energised and healthy!

Have you ever taken the time to really look at the way you treat yourself and your life? Taking yourself away from the chaos, and giving yourself the valuable time to see what your are doing to your health and wellness? Well, I'm about to give you a nudge in the right direction to re-design your lifestyle choices, so that you can give your Mind Body and Soul what it deserves.

The word 'detox' has become a buzzword associated with diet and clean eating. But what does it mean to detox and what are we detoxing from? From toxic people and food pesticides to toxic beauty products and your household cleaning products, we’re bombarded by harmful materials every day. Most of the time, we're not even aware that our thoughts and actions may be harming our health and wellbeing.

Detoxing your life means re-energizing your life. It’s about removing harmful materials just as much as replenishing with beneficial materials that support your overall health and wellness. It’s about looking within to gain greater awareness around your daily habits in an effort to make more conscious and informed decisions, so you can move forward with more knowledge and understanding.

Do you know what the ingredients are in your facial cleanser or bodywash? Are you eating enough natural, whole foods? Do you use plastic containers or plastic bags in your home? Do your negative thoughts impact the way you feel and move throughout your day, creating lethargy, headaches and tension?

So many of us get stuck in routines that aren’t beneficial to our health. That’s why Detox Your Life aims to provide quick everyday strategies that help you breathe easier, think clearer, and live better, whilst giving your body chance to heal itself.

So let's step back a little, and start at the beginning...

Here you can see the 4 ways in which you can make huge changes in your life starting today.

When you go round the supermaket or the shops, when was the last time, if ever, you took a look at the ingredients on the household product you were purchasing? Never, I'm guessing! Even if you did, would you know what all of those chemicals are, and what they do within the body? Ok, so, when was the last time you checked the ingredients and calories on the food you just bought? Probably more than you have the household products, or your makeup! You've been watching the adverts on media all your life, and have been told that your household products smells like fresh flowers, kills harmful bacteria, makes cleaning easier, cleans your clothes and with a scent that lasts for days or even weeks, and your makeup and creams will make your skin glow and make you look younger......do I need to go on? We are mesmerised (hypnotised) to believe everything we have seen since we were small, so we continue to use these products into adulthood, believing that they will do everything they tell you. Here's a list of wake up calls.....

Formaldehyde - when formaldehyde is present in the air at levels exceeding 0.1 ppm, some individuals may experience adverse effects such as watery eyes; burning sensations in the eyes, nose, and throat; coughing; wheezing; nausea; and skin irritation

Sulphuric Acid - inhalation may cause irritation of the respiratory tract and eyes, lacrimation, rhinorrhoea, cough and chest tightness, severe lung damage may follow acute exposure

Diethanolamine - acute inhalation exposure to diethanolamine in humans may result in irritation of the nose and throat, and dermal exposure may result in irritation of the skin

Phthalates

This chemical is common in fragrance products such as air fresheners and liquid soaps. It’s challenging to find phthalates listed on any labels because of the law that protects such companies from listing their ingredients. But for most fragrant based cleaning supplies, it’s present.

They pose a significant risk in the endocrine system for both men and women, as men report a reduced sperm count and women experience difficulty in reproducing.

Triclosan - common in liquid soaps and dishwashing products, the chemical is used to get rid of fungi and bacteria in your kitchen. But health-wise, it has carcinogenic effects that could cause damage to your cells and general body health. The American Medical Association also claims that even with antimicrobial properties, it contains endocrine disruptors.

Butoxyethano - are mostly find this chemical in cleaning products used for cleaning the windows and kitchen. It has a sweet and inviting scent but contains harmful effects to your respiratory system.

It belongs to a chemical group called Glycol Ethers. These are potent solvents said to cause liver and kidney diseases, narcosis and pulmonary oedema.

QUATS - these are Quarternary Ammonium Compounds used mostly in fabric cleaners and softeners. They are antibacterial and antimicrobial agents that have adverse effects on your health. They have dermatological effects such as dermatitis and skin irritation.

Ammonia - mostly found in bathroom cleaning supplies, we use them to polish and wipe off surfaces and get rid of bad scents. Even with such great properties, ammonia doesn’t relate well with other bleaching agents. It causes skin irritation and problems with the respiratory system. It can cause chronic bronchitis and asthma with prolonged exposure to ammonia.

Chloride - found in household cleaners for laundry, toilets, bathroom, and windows contain high contents of chlorine. Although effects from chlorine are acute, they could turn toxic and cause severe damage to your health and skin.

The longer the exposure to it, the higher the risk for your body.

Did you know that air fresheners emit over 100 different chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (terpenes such as limonene, alpha-pinene, and beta-pinene; terpenoids such as linalool and alpha-terpineol; ethanol, formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, and xylene) and semi-volatile organic compounds (such as phthalates) Find out more

It’s been well established that constant exposure to cleaning products is linked to higher rates of Asthma. A Norwegian study also confirms a link to long term exposure and a diagnosis of COPD.

.......remember too, if you're breathing it in, so are your pets!!

My list could go on and on, but what I am waking you up to is just a glimpse into the amount of toxins you have all around you, which can ALL, yes, I said ALL be replaced! I know, because I have done it. I had to wait until I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia to get my wake up call, even though I already used essential oils for many things since I was in my late teens, I am now using the cleanest essential oils on the market.....I have done a huge amount of research and science into this market. I use an ECO Egg for my washing, I use the cleanest skincare products and makeup, and I make all my cleaning products with just Colloidal Silver and Essential Oils.....with a little help ocasionally of Bicarbonate of Soda and White Vinegar. Check out some of my DIY recipes in my blog next week!

Now, let's talk about nutrition! If you've seen my last blog on 'To Fast or Not To Fast?' you'll know that I do like to use myself as a 'guinea pig'! I've then got something I really know about, I know how it feels, how did I feel throughout and would I do it again. It was a resounding 'yes' to fasting, but I have also done Keto and Anthony William, Medical Medium - all of which I highly recommend! Now, I don't talk about diets because for most women, it's a bit of a 'loaded' word isn't it! Who hasn't been on a diet at some time in their life? Forget diets, nutrition is about nourishing your body, it's a lifestyle change and it's for life, not just a couple of weeks or months, when you decide to go back to your old way of living, because they were all unsustainable long term. This is loving yourself from the inside out. I've been studying many different cultures and longevity for quite some years, and I know that when I eat a Mediterranean diet, full of vegetables, fruit, Olive Oil, nuts, legumes and fish, I feel so much more energised, minimal Menopause symptoms, sleep really well and no aches and pains. That doesn't mean I never allow myself a little indulgence now and again, it is a treat rather than something I need to have everyday, because when you look and feel really well, you automatically want to make better choices. I also don't drink alcohol and I make my own bread using freshly milled wholegrain flour and seeds.

Let's take some time now, to talk about the mind. How many of us have friends, family or work colleagues around us that just suck our energy, otherwise known as 'energy vampires'? We've all had them, but I chose to take these people out of my life, with love, of course! Learning to say 'no', learning not to get caught up in drama or arguments. Life is just too short....and the older you get, the less you need or want those people in your life. We just want happiness and joy, peace and harmony don't we? That was a decision I made about 5 years ago, when I walked away from an alcoholic, and decided that I deserved better, I was worth it, and I wanted a happier more loving life. It's our right afterall. It's not even that we deserve it, it's our God given right, to find our 'life path' and enjoy our best life, living our passion and loving who we are to our very core, and the majority of us have no idea what that is. We have one life, should we not be the leading ladies in it?
